Diabetes information

There are mainly two types of diabetes, type 1 and type 2. Diabetes in adults over 40 years of age is type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is caused by insufficient insulin production by the pancreas or tissue resistance to insulin. Insulin is needed to utilize sugar by the body cells. Normal blood sugar level is between 70 and 110 mg/dl. Above that level is considered diabetes. When there is not enough insulin, sugar level goes up. Causes of type 2 diabetes is due to genetic factor, inactive lifestyle, obesity and dietary habits. Diabetes before the age of 40 is called type 1 diabetes. In type 1 diabetes, enough insulin is not produced by pancreas. People should have diabetes information before it develops.

Untreated diabetes can cause diabetes complications like, heart disease, neurological symptoms, kidney disease, eye disease, delayed wound healing etc.

Diabetes can be controlled by medicine, diet and regular exercise, some herbs and homeopathic medicine. Herbal remedies and homeopathic medicines do not have any side effects and they are cheaper.

Symptoms of diabetes are frequent urination, feeling thirsty, fatigue, weakness, lightheadedness, depression, delayed wound healing, irritability, blurry vision and suppression of immune system.

Diabetes can be controlled by regular exercise and diet alone. Exercising after eating, will lower blood sugar levels. Exercising after breakfast and dinner is very helpful to keep your blood glucose under control. At least 20 to 30 minutes of exercise daily is very good to control blood sugar. Eat less carbohydrate like bread, rice and eat more vegetables. Add some protein to your diet like fish, lean meat. Instead of three large meals, eat five small meals throughout the day.

Chromium

Taking chromium supplements can help reduce blood sugar. Research has found that chromium is very effective and safe to lower blood sugar level to normal. The daily dose for chromium is 120 microgram per day. Chromium deficience can lead to fatique, anxiety, glucose intolerance.

Home remedies for diabetes

Fenugreek

Diabetes can be controlled by using herbs. Fenugreek is a very useful herb in controlling diabetes. It activates insulin production by the pancreas. Fenugreek is also very useful in lowring blood pressure, arthritis and menopausal symptoms.

Cinnamon

Another herb that is found the in kitchen is cinnamon which is very helpful in controlling blood sugar. Use half a teaspoon twice daily. High doses of cinnamon is harmful as it can damage liver, can cause flushing.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple Cider vinegar is very effective in controlling blood sugar. It can be taken one teaspoon in a glass of water and drink one third of a glass before meal. Apple Cider Vinegar is also helpful in lowering blood pressure.

Garlic

Garlic can lower sugar levels are garlic. Eating one to two cloves of garlic two times a day can significantly lower blood sugar level. Garlic is available in capsule form.

Gymnema Sylvestre

Another very effective herb is Gymnema Sylvestre. This herb has been used in eastern countries for centuries to control blood sugar. It has also other uses such as diuretics and it can be used for lowering blood pressure. Knowing diabetes information will keep you manage your diabetes and lead a healthy life.
